It’s the night before Meg’s wedding. The bossy mother of the bride, Colleen, is wildly fussing over the minutiae of the arrangements while Meg and her bridesmaids, Angela and Lucy, are planning to spend the evening having a heart-to-heart and a few laughs over a couple of bottles of bubbly. However… a horrible secret is present and the question of whether it should or should not be told, hangs in the air like the sword of Damocles.
Love, constancy, truth and lies, how sex can influence principles. Do we ever know or tell the truth and if we did tell the truth would it be unbearable?
In July, Kapiti Playhouse will bring Elizabeth Coleman’s delightful characters to life in her seriously funny play, Secret Bridesmaids’ Business – and this is your chance to be part of the play which explores the state of marriage in the 2000’s.
We are looking for a cast of six females and one male:
- Colleen: the mother of the bride, 50s, fussy and loving
- Meg: the bride, 30s, smart, attractive, and in love
- Angela: the matron of honour, 30s soft, good friend
- Lucy: the bridesmaid, 30s, a player, tough, appealing
- Naomi: 30s a friend, vague, self absorbed
- James: 30s the groom, confident, sincere, and in love
- Housemaid: any age
Be aware that ages are indicative only so, if one of these parts really tickles your fancy, then you may still be in luck!
Auditions for the play will take place on Sunday 17th May at 2pm in the Kapiti Playhouse Theatre, 7 Ruahine Street, Paraparaumu.
Scripts will be available from 8th May from PaperPlus Coastlands. Enquires can be made to Liz Alpine on 905 6558 (home), 021 434 802 (mobile), or via her email @ lizalpine [at] gmail [dot] com
If being on stage is not your thing then you can still be involved as we are always on the lookout for people to help behind the scenes with important functions such as publicity, director’s assistant, sound, lighting, plus more! If being part of the backstage action sounds like your thing, feel free to get in touch as well and we’ll see how we can match you up with something you love doing.
