Kapiti Playhouse Youth Shakespeare Collective

In support of youth drama, Kapiti Playhouse runs the Kapiti Playhouse Youth Shakespeare Collective. The collective, which is open to students from Years 9-13, meets every Monday evening during term time to work on various aspects of Shakespeare & Theatre.
The emphasis is on learning skills and gaining new knowledge with sessions that are active and fun. There is an exciting programme and the sessions are led by a variety of experienced practitioners who all bring their own various skills to work with the students.
An example of the topics that the tutors work through are:
- Reading Shakespeare aloud
- Elements of Elizabethan Theatre, the history of the times and historical backstories of some selected plays
- The Acting Voice
- Theatre Etiquette and Stagecraft
- Stage Combat
- and more…
Classes are strictly limited to 20 students and run from 7.00pm-8.30pm every Monday night during Term Times.

The collective is co-ordinated by Lee Norris who has more than 20 years experience as a Primary School and High School Teacher and is also a holder of a Diploma of Teaching majoring in English, Drama and Dance and a Bachelor of Education (Otago).
Sessions for Term 3, 2017 run from Monday 24th July for 10 weeks. Please note that the class is currently full however please contact us to be put on the waiting list should a place become available.
